Getting to Sydney Airport from Gerroa without a car

By train
There is no station in Gerroa; the nearest is Gerringong. From there it takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to the terminal, with two changes, at Kiama and Wolli Creek — about $26–29 adult with Opal, including the $18.61 airport station access fee.
Two things worth knowing. From Sunday 15 November 2026, South Coast trains stop calling at Wolli Creek, so the airport needs a change at Sutherland or Hurstville as well — or a ride to Central and back. And the line is electrified only as far as Kiama: south of it a diesel service runs to Bomaderry, so trips from Gerringong, Berry and Bomaderry add a change at Kiama. For a 6am flight with checked bags — at the terminal by 4am — no South Coast train gets you there in time.
The road, and what sets the timing
Gerroa sits at the northern end of Seven Mile Beach, on the headland above the Crooked River. It is small, and the streets are steep on the headland side.
The Seven Mile Beach car park and the boat ramp are the landmarks. Holiday houses along the headland can be hard to find at night — a house name helps.
At about 125 km the run is about 1 hour 45 minutes, out through Gerringong to the highway.
