Every fare below is the whole number. It covers the drive door to door, every motorway toll on the way, GST, and the NSW Passenger Service Levy. It does not move at 5am, on a Sunday, in the rain, or because a Vivid crowd is filling George Street. It is set when you book and it is what you pay on arrival.

One fare covers the entire CBD zone: the Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Pyrmont, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Ultimo, Chippendale and Haymarket. Ask for the building by name — the number is the same.

All figures AUD. Fares are identical in both directions — Sydney CBD back down to Wollongong is also $395. The drive times are the published figures for clear roads; a weekday morning into the city usually adds 20 to 30 minutes over the last stretch, and OSPIPO builds that into the pickup time rather than into the fare.

OSPIPO does not keep a list of approved Sydney destinations, because a list is always missing one. It runs a rule instead, and the rule is published.

• Inside the CBD zone — the table fare, unchanged. Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Pyrmont, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Ultimo, Chippendale, Haymarket. There is no landmark loading and no hotel forecourt fee.
• Anywhere else in Greater Sydney — the CBD fare plus $3.30 for each additional kilometre measured from the CBD, with the total rounded to the nearest $5. Camperdown, Randwick, Bondi, Chatswood, Macquarie Park, Olympic Park, Parramatta, the North Shore, the Northern Beaches, Western Sydney.
• Worked, a hospital — Nowra to the Sydney CBD is $564. Taking Royal Prince Alfred in Camperdown as four kilometres from the CBD, the additional kilometres add $13.20, giving $577.20, which rounds to $575 one way. The four kilometres is the assumption; give the street address and OSPIPO measures it rather than assuming it.
• Worked, an office park — Kiama to the Sydney CBD is $462. Taking Sydney Olympic Park as 20 kilometres from the CBD, the additional kilometres add $66, giving $528, which rounds to $530 one way.
• Anywhere in NSW that is on no list at all — $60 base plus $3.30 per kilometre plus the $1.32 levy, quoted instantly and locked at booking.

Ask with the street address and you get a number you can paste into a calendar invite, before you commit to anything.

The reason to book a chauffeur into the city rather than a single ride is the return. A same-day return is one booking, not two. The chauffeur who collects you at 6am is the one waiting when the meeting ends, in the same car, with your coat and your laptop bag where you left them. The return leg is priced at booking, not at 4pm on a wet Wednesday.

The pricing is arithmetic, not negotiation. Each direction is the published one-way fare. A return is that fare doubled, then 10% off.

• Wollongong — $395 each way. Doubled is $790; less 10%, the return is $711.
• Kiama — $462 each way. Doubled is $924; less 10%, the return is $831.60.
• Nowra — $564 each way. Doubled is $1,128; less 10%, the return is $1,015.20.
• Jervis Bay — $626 each way. Doubled is $1,252; less 10%, the return is $1,126.80.

If the gap between legs is short — a two-hour board meeting, a specialist appointment, a matinee — the car waits nearby and the chauffeur is there when you come out. If the gap is a full working day, the car can be released and returns at the time you set. The figures above cover both legs; the length of the hold between them is settled when you book, so it is in the number before you commit.

Three adults sharing a Jervis Bay return pay $375.60 each. Three sharing from Kiama pay $277.20 each.

A 9am board meeting in Barangaroo, from Kiama. Pickup 6:00am from the front door. The published Kiama drive time is 2h 0m, and the weekday crawl over the last few kilometres puts the car at the Barangaroo address by about 8:30. The chauffeur holds the car nearby through the meeting. Away at 12:30pm, back in Kiama by about 2:30. One booking, $831.60, settled on arrival with a GST tax invoice. No parking station, no walk from Kent Street in the rain.

A 10:30am appointment at RPA Camperdown, from Nowra. Taking Camperdown as four kilometres from the CBD, the one-way fare is $575 rather than $564, and the same-day return is $1,035.00. Pickup 7:00am against a published Nowra drive time of 2h 30m, at the hospital entrance by about 10:00 — early enough to check in unhurried, not so early you sit for two hours. Drop-off is at the door, not three levels down in a car park. The chauffeur waits while you are inside, so there is no second booking to make when the appointment runs 40 minutes over. A 7:30pm performance at the Sydney Opera House, from Wollongong. Pickup 4:45pm on a published 1h 35m drive, running into the city against the outbound peak, at Circular Quay by about 6:20 with time for dinner beforehand. The car waits through the performance. Curtain down around 10:15pm, the chauffeur waiting at Circular Quay, home in Wollongong before midnight. $711 for the pair of legs.

A corporate day trip to Martin Place, from Jervis Bay. Three colleagues, one car. Pickup 6:30am on a published 2h 55m drive, in Martin Place by about 10:00, meetings through to 4pm, home by about 7:00pm. $1,126.80 for the return, $375.60 a head, on one flat-rate GST tax invoice a finance team can reconcile without a phone call. The hold between the two legs is agreed when the booking is made. Repeat runs like this sit under a business account.

The arithmetic OSPIPO uses is simple and you can check it yourself. Take the time you need to be standing in the lobby. Subtract 30 minutes of margin. Subtract 30 minutes for the weekday crawl over the last stretch into the city. Then subtract the published drive time from the table above.

Those pickups carry the standard fare. There is no early-morning rate, no night loading and no weekend loading on this service at any hour of any day.

If your Sydney day begins at the airport rather than at home, Sydney Airport to the Sydney CBD is a fixed $120. Going the other way, the rule is three hours at the terminal before an international departure, two before a domestic, plus the published drive time, plus 10 minutes to load the car. For a 9:00am international departure from T1 that is a 04:40 pickup from Wollongong, 04:15 from Kiama, 03:45 from Nowra and 03:20 from Jervis Bay. For a 9:00am domestic departure from T2 or T3 it is 05:40 from Wollongong, 05:15 from Kiama, 04:45 from Nowra and 04:20 from Jervis Bay. The same rule is set out on Sydney Airport to Sydney CBD.

The train is the low-cost way into the city and it deserves a straight description rather than a sales pitch. OSPIPO does not publish South Coast Line fares or timetables — Transport for NSW does, and that is where to check them. For someone travelling light on a flexible morning, the train is a sensible choice and this page is not going to argue otherwise.
