OspiOSPIPO’s trip assistant
Give Ospi your flight and it works out when OSPIPO should collect you, using one published rule. It checks that the time is free, shows the fixed fare and books it. After the booking, your trip page shows the pickup, your driver and a link to share with family. Free to use — no app, no account and no card details; you pay in advance by secure link.
What is Ospi?
Ospi is the trip assistant on ospipo.com.au and in OSPIPO’s AI connector. Give it your flight and it works out when OSPIPO should collect you, checks that the pickup time is free, shows the fixed fare and books it. It is free to use, needs no app or account, and never asks for card details — OSPIPO is paid in advance through a secure payment link once it confirms. For a 6am Qantas flight from Kiama, for example, Ospi says leave at 2:45am: at T3 by 4:30am, an hour before Qantas closes bag drop at 5:30am.

How Ospi works out the pickup time
Ospi works back from the departure time. The same rule sets every leave time published on this site, the time the booking server plans against, and the answer OSPIPO’s AI connector gives.
| Your flight | At the terminal | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic, checked bags — Qantas, Virgin Australia | 90 minutes before departure | Bag drop closes 30 minutes before departure; Ospi plans 60 minutes ahead of that |
| Domestic, checked bags — Jetstar | 100 minutes before departure | Jetstar closes bag drop 40 minutes before departure |
| Domestic, hand luggage only | 1 hour before departure | No bag drop |
| International | 3 hours before departure | Check-in, security and outbound immigration |
Then: never before the terminal opens (T1 at 3:00am, T2 and T3 at 4:00am); take off the drive from your suburb and 10 minutes to load the bags; on a weekday, take off 30 minutes more for the morning peak (a pickup between 5:45 and 9:30am, or a drive reaching the airport between 7:30 and 10am) or 20 minutes for the afternoon peak (a pickup between 2:30 and 6:30pm, or reaching the airport between 4 and 7pm); round down to the quarter hour, the booking slots. Airlines change their times now and then — check yours before you fly.
Worked example: Kiama, 6am Qantas flight. At T3 by 4:30am (90 minutes before), minus about 95 minutes of driving and 10 minutes to load = pickup 2:45am.
| Pickup from | Drive to Sydney Airport | 6am Qantas | 6am Jetstar | 9am Virgin (weekday) | 7am international |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helensburgh | about 50 min | 3:30am | 3:15am | 6:00am | 3:00am |
| Wollongong | about 70 min | 3:00am | 3:00am | 5:30am | 2:30am |
| Shellharbour | about 85 min | 2:45am | 2:45am | 5:15am | 2:15am |
| Kiama | about 95 min | 2:45am | 2:30am | 5:15am | 2:15am |
| Berry | about 110 min | 2:30am | 2:15am | 5:00am | 2:00am |
| Nowra | about 125 min | 2:15am | 2:00am | 4:45am | 1:45am |
| Jervis Bay | about 150 min | 1:45am | 1:30am | 4:15am | 1:15am |
Drive times are OSPIPO’s published off-peak times; a place without one is estimated from the road distance. Ospi gives the time for any address in the service area.
Is that time free?
Ospi checks the booking calendar for the whole trip, not just the minute of the pickup. If the time is taken it offers the nearest earlier free time — earlier is always safe for a flight. You can move the time in 15-minute steps; Ospi says when a later time would cut into the plan.
Your trip page
Every booking comes with a private link. No app and no login — the link is the trip.
Pickup and terminal
Your pickup time, when you reach the terminal, when bag drop closes, and your driver with call and WhatsApp buttons.
Preferences
Quiet ride, music off, a cooler or warmer cabin, help with bags, a note such as a gate code. They go to the driver with the trip.
Share the trip
A family link shows the trip’s status — booked, on the way, picked up, dropped off — without your address, fare or contact details.
Trip brief
The driver sends a short brief by WhatsApp: the pickup, the terminal and bag-drop time, and anything you asked for.
Change of plan? The trip page asks the driver to change the time, or cancels at no charge before the pickup.
The same answer in Claude and other assistants
OSPIPO’s MCP connector carries Ospi’s planner as a tool, next to the quote and booking tools.
Pickup time for a flight
The pickup time from the flight’s departure, airline and bags, whether that slot is free (and the nearest earlier free time if not), and the fixed fare. Assistants that show app cards display the plan as a card in the chat, with a button to book it.
Your plan stays on your phone
The planner keeps your trip on your device only, so it is there when you come back; “Forget my trip” removes it. To check a time, Ospi sends the route and the flight time — not your name or number. Nothing about you reaches OSPIPO until you book. Chat messages are processed by Anthropic to write Ospi’s replies. Details: privacy policy.
Common questions
What is Ospi?
Ospi is the trip assistant on ospipo.com.au and in OSPIPO’s AI connector. Give it your flight and it works out when OSPIPO should collect you, checks that the pickup time is free, shows the fixed fare and books it. It is free to use, needs no app or account, and never asks for card details — OSPIPO is paid in advance through a secure payment link once it confirms.
How does Ospi work out my pickup time?
It works back from the departure time: at the terminal 90 minutes before a domestic flight with checked bags (100 minutes for Jetstar), 1 hour with hand luggage only and 3 hours before an international flight, and never before the terminal opens (T1 at 3:00am, T2 and T3 at 4:00am). Then it takes off the drive from your suburb and 10 minutes to load the bags. On a weekday it takes off 30 minutes more for the morning peak (a pickup between 5:45 and 9:30am, or a drive reaching the airport between 7:30 and 10am) or 20 minutes for the afternoon peak (a pickup between 2:30 and 6:30pm, or reaching the airport between 4 and 7pm), and it rounds down to the quarter hour. Kiama for a 6am Qantas flight is a 2:45am pickup.
Why 90 minutes before a domestic flight?
Qantas and Virgin Australia close check-in and bag drop 30 minutes before a domestic departure, and Jetstar 40 minutes. Ospi plans on being at the terminal 60 minutes before that, which leaves time for a queue at bag drop and security without a long wait at the gate.
What if the time Ospi suggests is already booked?
Ospi checks the booking calendar before you book. If that pickup is taken it shows the nearest earlier time that is free — earlier is always safe for a flight. You can also move the time yourself in 15-minute steps; Ospi tells you when a later time would cut into the plan.
What happens after I book?
You get a trip page: a private link with your pickup time, when you will reach the terminal, your driver, and the fixed fare. There you can add ride preferences for the driver, share a family link that shows the trip’s status (without your address or fare), ask to change the time, or cancel at no charge before the pickup. The evening before, the driver sends a trip brief by WhatsApp.
Does Ospi work for arriving flights?
Yes. For a pickup from the airport the pickup time is your landing time. The flight is tracked, so the driver follows the real landing, and waiting is free for 1 hour after a domestic landing and 2 hours after an international one.
Can I use Ospi from Claude or another AI assistant?
Yes. OSPIPO’s MCP connector (https://ospipo.com.au/mcp) has a plan_pickup tool that gives the same pickup time, checks the slot and returns the fixed fare; assistants that show app cards display it as a trip card in the chat. Setup takes about two minutes: https://ospipo.com.au/book-with-ai
