The arithmetic

Northbound, itemised.

The airport run for reference. The CBD fare is $54 above it on every corridor, because the city is that much further past the terminals.

The CBD sits about sixteen kilometres beyond Sydney Airport coming north, which is where the $54 comes from — it is the same $3.30 a kilometre applied to the extra distance, not a city surcharge. Every CBD address is the same fare: Circular Quay, the Opera House, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Pyrmont, Haymarket and Surry Hills.

What the fare covers

Included, and not.

Inside the published fare

  • Every motorway toll on the route
  • GST
  • The NSW Passenger Service Levy
  • Airport access and parking
  • Meet and greet inside the terminal with a name sign
  • Help with your bags at both ends
  • Flight tracking, with the pickup moved to the actual landing time
  • Two hours of waiting on international arrivals, one hour on domestic
  • Child seats, fitted and checked, on request
  • Bottled water and a phone charger at every seat

Not included, and never quietly added

  • Meals, and any stop long enough to eat one
  • Extra waiting beyond the free allowance, charged at the hourly rate agreed at booking
  • Additional stops not named at booking
  • Parking or entry fees at a private venue that charges them
  • Anything the car physically cannot carry — see the capacity note

Departure timing

When the car has to be at your door.

Worked backwards from the flight, not forwards from a guess. Every row uses the same 80-minute drive time published at the top of this page.

Departure timing for Wollongong, worked from the published 80-minute drive
Flight departs Terminal Be at the airport Pick-up
06:00 domestic T2 / T3 04:00 02:30
07:00 international T1 04:00 02:30
08:00 domestic T2 / T3 06:00 04:30
09:30 international T1 06:30 04:40
13:00 domestic T2 / T3 11:00 09:30
17:00 international T1 14:00 12:30
21:00 domestic T2 / T3 19:00 17:30

Worked from 80 minutes of driving, plus 10 minutes to load at the kerb, plus 3 hours inside the terminal for an international departure and 2 hours for a domestic one. A 20-minute allowance is added where the drive runs through the morning peak. Arriving instead of departing? Then none of this applies: give the flight number and the pickup moves to the actual landing time, with 2 hours free at T1 and 1 hour at T2 and T3.

The corridor

Northbound is a different drive.

Going south you are leaving a city. Going north you are arriving in one, and the arithmetic reverses: the drive is the easy part and the last fifteen kilometres are the whole problem.

From Wollongong the climb up Mount Ousley is the opposite experience to the descent — a long steady haul behind trucks, then the plateau, then the National Park. Through to Waterfall it is the same quiet road at any hour.

Then the Shire, and the difference between a 05:30 departure and a 07:00 one is roughly forty minutes. Northbound into Sydney between 07:00 and 09:30 is the single most reliable delay on this corridor. For a 09:00 CBD meeting from Wollongong, the car leaves around 06:30 rather than 07:15.

For an appointment there is a second consideration people usually forget: parking in the city, if you drive yourself, costs more than the difference between the options and has to be found while you are already late.

A 09:00 CBD meeting

Wollongong leaves about 06:30, Kiama about 06:00, Nowra about 05:00. Those are the honest numbers, and they are why this run gets booked.

A matinee or evening performance

Northbound early afternoon is clear; the return south after 22:00 is clearer still. A return booking with a wait in between is the usual shape and the same chauffeur drives both legs.

Friday afternoon southbound

The return leg is the slow one on a Friday, from about 14:30. If your day finishes at 17:00, the drive home is a genuinely different length from the drive up.

A specialist appointment

Priced as a return with waiting included through a typical appointment. The medical page covers what that means in practice, including who can book on a patient's behalf.

This route

About going north.

Wollongong $395, Kiama $462, Berry $534, Nowra $564, Jervis Bay $626. Both directions, all-inclusive.

That is the airport fare plus $54 on every corridor, because the CBD is about sixteen kilometres further north than the terminals. It is the same per-kilometre rate applied to the extra distance, not a city surcharge.

Every CBD address, yes — Circular Quay, the Opera House, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Pyrmont, Haymarket, Surry Hills and Woolloomooloo.

Beyond the CBD zone, the rule is the CBD fare plus $3.30 for each additional kilometre, rounded to the whole dollar, quoted before you book.

From Wollongong, about 06:30. From Kiama, about 06:00. From Nowra, about 05:00.

Those allow for the northbound peak between 07:00 and 09:30, which is the most reliable delay on this corridor. They are earlier than a mapping app will tell you, and that is deliberate.

Yes, and a same-day wait is the most common shape of this booking. A return from Wollongong is the $395 one-way doubled, less 10 percent, rounded to the nearest $5, with Parag Sharma driving both legs under NSW Booking Service Provider authorisation BSP-462516. For a medical or specialist appointment, waiting of up to four hours sits inside that figure; any other wait is named at booking and the hourly rate settled in advance. Nothing is paid until you are home, no card details are taken, and cancelling before pickup costs nothing.

For a single person with a laptop and a flexible morning, the South Coast Line is a good train and a great deal cheaper. You can work on it, which the car cannot claim.

It is less good when the meeting is at 09:00 sharp, when there are three of you, or when the day ends at an hour the timetable has thinned out.

Regularly. A matinee or an evening performance with the return leg after curtain is a normal booking, and the drive south after 22:00 is the quietest hour on the corridor.

The fare is fixed at booking and does not change because the show ran long.

No question matches that. Try a shorter word, or ask the concierge.
