Jamberoo Action Park at a glance
Jamberoo Action Park is a seasonal water theme park in the hills behind Kiama: water slides and thrill rides, a wave pool, kids’ areas, and dry rides including the Chairlift and Bobsled.
Through October 2026 the park opens Friday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. General admission tickets work on any open day between 26 September 2026 and 26 April 2027, but the open days change through the season, so check the park’s calendar before you book the car. Tickets come from the park, online or at the gate — not from OSPIPO.
The park is on Jamberoo Road, a few kilometres from Jamberoo village, and there is no weekend bus. That is where a booked car helps: dropped at the entry gates in the morning, collected at closing, with the bags, the towels and the kids straight into the car.
Three ways to do it — fixed fares
- Dropped off, collected later. The driver leaves after drop-off and comes back at the time you choose — you pay the return fare and nothing for the hours in between. From Wollongong: $280 return. From the Sydney CBD it is $835 return.
- The driver waits. The car stays on standby and you leave when you are ready: the return fare plus $50 an hour, booked in whole hours, up to 5 hours. From Wollongong: $330 with 1 hour, $380 with 2, $530 with 5.
- A full day with several stops. A private charter: $890 for up to 8 hours door to door, the car and driver yours for the day, as many stops as fit. From the Sydney CBD the drive is about 1h 55m each way, which leaves about 4 hours at the park and anywhere else you stop.
| From (drive) | One way | Return, collected later | Return, driver waits 2 h |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney CBD~110 km · ~1h 55m | $464 | $835 | $935the $890 charter costs less |
| Sydney Airport~100 km · ~1h 30m | $410 | $740 | $840 |
| Wollongong~30 km · ~25 min | $155 | $280 | $380 |
| Shellharbour~15 km · ~15 min | $120 | $215 | $315 |
| Kiama~15 km · ~15 min | $120 | $215 | $315 |
| Gerringong~25 km · ~25 min | $120 | $215 | $315 |
Fixed per car for up to 3 passengers — four travel only on request, with light bags — and child seats are free. Motorway tolls, GST and the NSW levy are included, nothing is added on the day, and you pay on arrival, with no deposit. Waiting is $50 for each hour you book, up to 5. Where a return comes to more than the $890 private charter, the charter is the better buy if your day fits inside its 8 hours door to door — from the Sydney CBD the drive is about 1h 55m each way, which leaves about 4 hours at the park. Fares come from the same engine as the booking form; drive times are typical outside peak hours (OpenStreetMap routing).
Getting there without a car
The nearest station is Kiama, on the South Coast Line. The park’s own page lists a weekday bus from Kiama station — Monday to Friday, not on public holidays — leaving the station at 9.50am and leaving the park for the station at 4.17pm; tell the bus driver you want the park when you board. Transport for NSW changed the Kiama–Jamberoo route on 20 July 2026, so check the current times on transportnsw.info before you rely on them.
At weekends there is no bus, and through October 2026 the park opens Friday to Sunday — so on most open days you need a car. A new South Coast Line train timetable also starts on Sunday 15 November 2026.
Good to know
- A whole park day — 10am to 5pm — is longer than the 5-hour waiting limit, so for a full day book the return: dropped at opening, collected at closing, nothing to pay for the hours in between.
- Open rain or shine: in rain every ride runs except the Bobsled, rides can pause in electrical storms, and the park gives no refunds for wet weather. Your fare stays fixed, and cancelling the car is free before pickup.
- Height rules apply on the big rides — 1.2 m on several of them (from 1.0 m with an adult aged 16 or over) and 1.4 m on the Chairlift and Bobsled unless riding with an adult. The park’s FAQs have the full list.
- Swimwear is a condition of entry for the water rides, and water shoes are recommended. You can bring your own food to the picnic areas; glass, knives and alcohol are not allowed.
- Accessibility: the park is hilly, with buggy transport to some areas, manual wheelchairs to hire from the First Aid Room and a water wheelchair on request — call the park ahead. Companion Cards are accepted.
- Dive-In Movie Saturdays, 19 December 2026 to 23 January 2027: the films start at 5pm and finish around 6.30–7pm, so set the ride back for then.
Make a day of it
Two places in one day is a sightseeing day: book the $890 private charter (up to 8 hours door to door) rather than a return, and list the stops in Special Requests.
- Kiama Blowhole — the blowhole and lighthouse in Kiama town, free to see at any time.
- Illawarra Fly — up on the escarpment at Knights Hill — the treetop walk and the zipline.
